Abouata Derails Haselrig Train at Battle Cage Xtreme 5

It took a young and hungry Alex Wilkie-trained warrior to do what veteran
Shane Ott and Carlos Moreno could not. At the fifth installment of Battle
Cage Xtreme, Justin Haskings stopped Judah Ciervo, Jon Jones crushed Moyses Gabin, and Tim Troxell and Jose Figueroa sent their opponents packing, but ultimately the night belonged to Joe Abouata.

For no matter what wrestling mojo and ground-and-pound prowess Carlton Haselrig unloaded him, the challenger just kept working and working – and one rear naked choke towards the end of the second round and the USKBA and BCX heavyweight belts were his.

2008 NAGA World Championship Results

Alex Wilkie's Warriors earned three medals. Super Heavyweight, Joe "Apocalypse" Abouata finished third in the No-Gi Intermediate Division. Light Heavyweight, Phil "The Machine" Mazzurco finished third in the No-Gi Expert division. Bantam Weight, Griffin Sullivan finished second in the No-Gi Novice Division. Congrats to all of Wilkie's Warriors that fought. Also, here is a special thanks to Big Al, Hammer, Terminator, Greg Gracie, Billy Loftus and all of our training partners.

Gladiator Challenge: "Sprawl or Brawl" Results

The much anticipated heavyweight title match of Joe "Apocalypse" Abouata versus reigning Gladiator Challenge heavyweight champion, Bo "Redrum" Cantrell did not take place. Abouata was matched up against K-1 Kickboxing Veteran and number #3 Gladiator Challenge heavyweight contender, Rick "Savage" Cheek. The match was sure to be a brawl; however, Cheek scored with a big left hook and finished Abouata with some punches. The ref stopped the fight at 0:31 into Round One - Abouata's first loss.
